Excited

I love listening to music, especially piano music. So when the show Everybody Loves Raymond comes on I get really excited. At the end of every show there is a little song they play. I stop whatever I am doing and I listen and get all excited because I like the music. Watch the video and you will see.

Stuck

As you can see from the picture, I had a rough night the other night. I got a little stuck. It happened last weekend. My Aunt Jen came down from St Louis and I was busy entertaining her, that I didn't want to go to bed. Finally, around 11:00, mom said I had too go to bed. So I tossed and turned until I finally passed out. I wasn't fussy or anything, so mom never came in to check on me until she went to bed. And to her surprise she found me hanging half way out. Once she finds me like I am, you would think most moms would just get me unstuck and comfortable again. But not my mom, she turns the light on and grabs the camera. Which wakes me up, but lucky for her I was really tired and went back to sleep and slept the rest of the night. But I was ready to get up in the morning and play with my Aunt Jen again.

Pumpkin carving

Since Halloween is coming, mom, dad and I decided to carve pumpkins. Dad says it's a tradition that we carve pumpkins every year. I really didn't know what I was getting myself into, but I thought what the heck. I'll see what it is all about. Apparently, you take a pumpkin and cut the top off. Then there is all this stuff in the inside that you have to get out. And that was my job. I didn't care for it too much. It felt pretty gross. I didn't do the best getting anything out, so dad helped me. But then when you get all the stuff out, you can carve a face into the pumpkin. Which is the cool part.

I had a small pumpkin that was mine. Mom and dad also had one of their own that they carved also. Mine was a little small to actually carve a face out of, so I just made a face with markers on mine.

After we carved all the pumpkins, we set them on the front porch for everybody to see.

Waving

I have perfected the wave. Everytime someone is leaving and says bye-bye, I give them a wave back. I don't have the wrist action down yet, but I'll get there. All I do is lift my arm in the air and then smile and laugh because I know I did something I was supposed too. Mom and dad always tell me good job.

Today, in therapy, I got to swing for a long time. I kept telling them more by pressing the 'more swinging' button on my switch. So I got to keep going. But then I was starting to get tired, so I pressed the 'stop' button. Ms Brandi thought I hit it by accident. But she could tell by looking at my facial expression that I was done. I kept looking down and uninterested unlike before when I would smile and laugh after each time we stopped and took a break. So we stopped and did something else.

So we moved on to painting. I got to watercolor. You better watch out Picasso, I'm pretty good. But I got bored of that and was starting to get really sleepy. Ms Brandi was trying to get a another color for me and as I was waiting I fell asleep right in my chair with my paintbrush still in hand. But then when Ms Brandi and Ms Terri caught me, they thought I was faking, because 2 seconds before that I was wide awake and painting away. As soon as they said my name, I gave them a suspicious smile with my eyes still closed. So they weren't going to let me go that easy. Because they knew I was up to something. But I just didn't want to paint anymore. So we moved onto reading a book that I stayed awake for and paid attention too. After that my time was up and mom and I went home. I was so exhausted I didn't even eat lunch, I took a nap as soon as I got home.

Swinging

I went to the center today for therapy again. I really like going there instead of them coming to the house because of all their cool toys. I especially like the swing they have. We go back and forth, side to side, and round in circles. Sometimes they even twist me and shake me. I don't care what they do, I like it all! I definitely have to get me one of these. I sure hope I get to go back and swing some more.

From the video, I am just smiling. But I knew mom had the camera out. So I wasn't acting like I usually do. You should see me when she put the camera away.

New therapy spot

Not much has been going on lately. I still go to the same babsitter - Ms Becky's. I really like it there. I have made several new friends. I especially like Shelby. She is younger than me, but she always crawls up to me and lays by me. We have a special communication between the two of us, that I'm sure no one but us two would understand.
I, of course, still have therapy. For the past two weeks, I have been going to Cape to do some of my therapy. My speech therapist and developmental therapist opened up a center. So I have been going there instead of them coming to my house. It is a lot of fun there. They have a lot of cool toys that I don't have at home. Like, a ball pit, a platform swing, and they also have a sensory room. That room is pretty cool. I think I am going to keep going there just so I can swing.

Switches

One of my new things in therapy is learning how to use switches. My speech therapist thought this would be a great communication tool for me. There are two sides to the switch - a red side and a yellow side. You can hook it up to certain toys and when you touch the side you have the toy hooked up to it turns the toy on. But it only works with toys that are switch-adaptive. I have an Elmo and a Elmo and Ernie bumper car toy that are switch activated. And since it is hard for me to turn these type of toys on like you would normally, the switch helps me out by me just pressing the button. It's pretty cool. You can also record a saying on the switch. So when you press the button, it will also say whatever you want it to say. You can use it in so many other ways too. Ms Brandy, my speech therapist, also wants me to have two choices and be able to have preferences. So with the switch, you can have one side be a certain thing and the other side another thing. And whenever I push one side or the other that is the thing that I get. And she wants to see if I prefer one over the other by choosing one more than the other. For example, she may have one side of the switch say "drum" and the other say "Elmo". And then when I push 'drum' she lets me play with my drum for a few minutes. And then she takes it away and won't bring it back until I push the switch again. And then if I push the 'Elmo' side, then Elmo will do his thing. He has a song that he sings. It's kind of funny. I like it a little but I like my drum more, because you can hit it and I like to hit things. So of course, I push the 'drum' button more. And I have learned pretty quick that once you take the drum or Elmo away, I have to press the switch again to get it back. Ms Brandy is really proud that I can do it and that I am making a preference between two toys. I can use it for so many other things than just playing. I haven't tried it too much yet besides that though. But mom has tried using it during lunch time the other day. One side said 'drink' and the other 'food'. After she gave gave me a few bites she wanted me to pick if I wanted more food or a drink. I wasn't patient enough and neither was mom. So we forgot that idea. I just wanted to eat.

Great Fall

Humpty dumpty had a great fall!

Well I wasn't sitting on a wall and it wasn't the greatest fall. But if you look at the pictures real close, my face says it all in the second one. And as you can see dad wasn't much help and thought it was awefully funny. But there was no harm done. After the fact, I usually think its kind of funny and think it's a game.

PB & J

I found another food I love - that would be peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I really like it a lot. I have some trouble chewing it up though, because it gets stuck to the top of my mouth but I get it eventually. If not I savor it for another time.

Checkup

I had my 2 year checkup today. I have gained some weight in the past 6 months but not much. I weigh a whole 18 lbs 3.5 oz. I swear if anybody is on a diet they should take my advice and eat whatever they want. Because apparently eating a lot of fatty foods doesn't really pack on the pounds.

Bottle of whole milk when I wake up

Breakfast: honeybun or pancakes with extra butter & syrup

Lunch: mac-n-cheese, potatoes, or peanut butter and jelly

Snack: Little Debbie snack and chocolate milk

Supper: whatever mom and dad are eating with extra butter

Bedtime snack: bottle of whole milk

Mom thinks my diet only works for me. But if anyone is interested let me know how it goes. Other than that my checkup went well. The doctor wasn't too concerned about my weight this time. As long as I am not losing any weight.

This week I started going to my new babysitter - Ms Becky. I think I am really going to like it there. I've already made some new friends. But I think I scared Ms Becky on my first day. I had to break her in and throw up everywhere. She was a little concerned so she called mom at work. But mom assured her that that just happens sometimes. Other than that we got a long just great.
