Visitors and Hand Splints

So much has been going on since I last updated. Let's see where to start. First I got to meet someone new last week and he only lives like 2 blocks from me. His name is Keller and he also has hydrocephalus and is the same age as me. So we will be going to school together and everything. I really didn't have much to say when he was here, I was a little shy, but I am sure I will warm up to him after awhile. He sure was funny. I even invited him to my birthday party and to come swimming sometime. We will have a lot of fun together!
Another thing that happened last week, is that I finally got my new hand splints. I guess I wasn't to thrilled about them but I guess they will benefit me in the long run. They are much better than my old ones. They hold my thumb and index finger out. So they really stretch my hand out. When I have them on I call them my guns. It looks like I am shooting at someone, the way they have my hand positioned.
We had more company on Sunday, Ms Becky, Dylan and Taylor (my babysitter and 2 kids - who are my best friends) came over and went swimming. We had a blast!! I got to show Dylan & Taylor all of my cool toys.
This week has been kind of slow. Of course the regular therapies. I did really good today in PT. I only lifted my head once when I was on my belly, but I held it for a long time. I even turned it side to side, which is something I have never done before and is very hard. Other than that nothing to amazing has happened.

4th of July

I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July. Mine was pretty relaxing. Grandma and grandpa came over and we barbequed for lunch and hung out. I wanted to go swimming but it was too cold. I even showed them how I sit up all by myself. Later on we went over to my cousins house and watched them and the neighbors set off fireworks. I wasn't for sure how I would handle it but I did great. I loved watching all the fireworks light up and I didn't even get scared when they popped. I jumped a few times but never got upset. I even got to participate with the sparklers. I wasn't too sure of them though. Mom let me hold one and swing it around, but I preferred to just sit back and watch. It was a lot of fun and can't wait until next year.

Amazing

Guess what I can do all by myself? I can sit up all by myself with nobody even helping me. Except when my mom has to put her hands in front of mine so they don't slip, because I have to put my hands on the floor to balance myself, so I don't tip over. But I don't count that. I can't do it for very long, but I can do it. Yesterday in therapy, I sat up 3 different times with no help by anyone for about 10-15 seconds. Who knew I could do that. I even surprised myself. I can also sit up with somebody just holding me around the waist for several minutes. I did it for almost 5 minutes last night without losing head control. As my mom would saying AMAZING!!! I can tell mom and dad our so proud of me!

All Better

I have been a little under the weather since last week. On Monday, I found out that I got pink eye and then Tuesday night I started getting a fever. The fever lasted until Thursday, so mom decided to take me to the doctor to make sure I was alright. Well they were not for sure what I had either. They knew I had pink eye but said you usually don't run a fever with that, so the doctor decided to run a strep test on me because I had all the signs and symptoms. Well that came back negative but the doc decided to give me the shot anyways. That night I really started to feel better. My fever broke and I finally got an appetite back (it didn't hurt to swallow). My eye started to look better by Friday and I decided to party it up on Saturday. We went over to a friends house and there were all sorts of people and kids to play with. It was a lot of fun!! I am also excited that I get to go back to Ms Becky's tomorrow and see all my friends since I missed out on going last week.

Setting Records

Guess what I did in therapy today? I lifted my head up 3 different times when I was on my belly. And I even held it there for at least 7 seconds. One of the times, I think it may of even been 10-12 seconds. Ms Cathlyn and mom couldn't believe it. They were so proud of me.

I even impressed Ms Terri in my therapy session with her earlier that day. She had me matching shapes and pictures. She has been working on shapes with me already and I have been doing a pretty good job. Today, I matched 3 out of 4 shapes. I say that's pretty good. Today for the first time she had me match pictures also. She showed me a lion, a monkey, and an elephant. I matched all 3 animals. Mom was so proud of me, if she had only had the video camera. Maybe next time.

I also got to go swimming today. I have really enjoyed our pool a lot. I like to splash and kick my feet. I even have a floatie that I sit in and float around in. But the best is relaxing on the raft and working on my tan. I think I will be in the pool a lot this year. I am even hoping I can do some therapy with Ms Cathlyn or Ms Christy in the pool.

Happy Father's Day

I hope all the dads out there had a good father's day. I was extra special to my dad today. We pretty much relaxed all day, which is the way to go. I got him a card and some Cardinal tickets. I don't think I want to go with him because I think it will be loud. So I think mom is going to go in my place and I get to spend time at my Aunt Jen's house, which will be fun. And then the next day we are going to go to the zoo. We are not going to go until August though. Later in the day, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's. I got to see some baby kittens when I was there. They were really small. Then we got to go on a bumpy ride in the back of Grandpa's truck to see the rising creek. Since the river is rising the creek close to Grandpa's house is almost out of its bank. It wasn't quite out of its bank yet. Grandpa's hoping it doesn't since he just planted corn in the fields. I don't blame him.

My Feet

Well I have found another body part of mine....MY FEET!! They look kind of funny, but I like to grab them every now and then. Especially when I get really excited, I lift my legs up and they are right there so I grab and hold on to them. I even got one of them in my mouth one time. That didn't last long. They are not very tasty. I sometimes look like a pretzel, because I get all twisted up. Look at my slideshow below and take a look at me and my feet.

Nothing New

Not much has been going on and nothing too exciting. Which I guess could be a good thing. Just wanted to post another cute picture of me. Some might be going thru withdrawals, so hopefully this will get you by for another week.
