I had another checkup in St Louis on Friday. Everything went well. They took another picture of my brain and shunt to make sure everything was working. The shunt is working well and is stabalized and they even saw that my brain has expanded just a little bit more. Not as much as the time before but any little bit helps. Not much else is going on. I think I am starting to get another cold. But that's nothing new. I am really starting to get somewhere on holding my head up. I am getting much stronger. As long as someone is holding my body I will hold my head all by myself for at least a minute if not longer. I kind of look like one of those bobble heads. I am a little shaky at times but I have more control over it.
From the picture you can see that I learned how to suck my thumb. But as everything else I have learned, I like to do them once and never again it seems. This was the first and only time so far that I have sucked my thumb. Just like rolling over it's only been a one time thing. So you better keep a close eye on me because who knows I may have done it and you haven't seen it and I may not do it again. So watch out! On the other hand, I have learned how to throw things. If you put anything in my hand, I throw it. I don't think anyone is going to be drafting me to the major leagues anytime soon. But you better keep your guard up if something is in my hand because I am a little wild sometimes. But sometimes I try to hard to throw and it doesn't go anywhere. But I am still trying and it's not just a one time thing I learned and stopped doing it.
One of my favorite toys that I got for Christmas is my new Leap Frog drum. I have a drum stick that goes with it. And that is the best part of it and what I really like to do is wave the stick around and be an orchestrator. It looks like I am directing my band. And every now and then, I hit the drum with it. But mostly I wave it around. I still haven't rolled over if any of you are counting. I keep rolling from side to side but nothing further than that. Maybe it was a freak accident when I did it the first time. I am still having problems keeping my food down. I was on a roll and only throwing up about once a week. But lately, I have been throwing up about every other day. So I am not sure what is going on with me. The doctors really don't know why. But someone has got to know why because this isn't helping me gain weight. I go back to the doctor soon for my 18 month checkup so maybe there is something else they can do for me.
I made a New Year's resolution for myself. I decided I would roll over this year. I also decided I didn't want to work on it all year so I decided to do it already. I rolled over all by myself Monday night. What a way to break in the New Year. Now I guess I am going to have to make another resolution. I think I will work on holding my head up all by myself and sit up by myself. And who knows, if I feel like it maybe I will do it just as fast as rolling over.....or not! But that is what I am going to be working really hard on this year.
